tattooooos!

Last week I got some new tattoos. Thought I'd share. Tomorrow = Victoria to watch Roller Derby. XO

here's a picture of the tattoo i got whilst at rollercon. so something happened while at rollercon that i was not expecting. especially because i went to teach my classes, be part of RC, and to have fun. and i did all of those things. but what also happened was that i was surrounded by 5000 of my tribe (i hate that word) and being around derby summer camp and casual conversations with incredibly inspiring, strong, and beautiful people (men and women) and seeing roller derby at it's best (while still fun) reminded me why i'm doing this and why i want to keep going and where i want to go with it. i didn't realize i was having such a subconscious crisis with roller derby (it's been up and down, that's for sure) but i also remember(ed) that it's something i have to do for myself (since i've previously only done derby for other people) and if i want to climb that derby ladder and PLAY FOR A WFTDA TRAVEL TEAM OR TEAM CANADA i have to do things to get there. i haven't made any commitments or plans (formally), but have started working out more and watching my health better (i even bought more protein powder!) I've started skating with two other leagues and am looking at 3-4 on skates practices a week for August and will settle into 2-3 in September. Working out most every other day. it feels good. looking forward to it sticking.

so, then, what happens if in a year i get lots of skate time and i'm ready to try and get on a house team in a bigger league? it has to be a canadian league so, do i relocate to a major city and try to get on a house team, do that for a year and try to get on a travel team? what would having my kid and a full time working husband look like if we lived in a far flung canadian city (Van/Tor/Mtl) and i was traveling to play games. cross that road when i get to it? yep!

OMG! YIP! it's not done yet. about 1/2 hour to go... but i had to leave. i got it done by brian at kingpin here in port. the shop looks sketchy as hell from outside and is a little messy/dirty inside, but no cross contamination AND brian is a great nice conversational talented blah blah guy. he said not only did i teach him the word "patriarchy" (!!) but i was the first person to ever ask him how he was doing while he was tattooooooing. very interesting.

OK, so we're off to dinner out! having a job and money is so nice! it's like OLD TIMEZ.

i used to live in a psychic city...

there's a new yacht track posted out here in the interwebs universe. i found it streaming on pitchfork (with a download) but couldn't get the link to work. so head there and find it.

my momma and sister just left in the car and took all of our soft plastics with them to infiltrate into the victoria recycling network. it was nice having them around. we went for foods a few times, made curry, hung out, such a short time.. but nice. i can't wait to be closer. it was sad when they left and i almost started crying, "take me with you!!!" i'm feeling pretty done with this town/city/place and i know i say that a lot but i just don't know. i'm just finished. i emailed a friend today and said i'm ready to check out. get out of dodge. going back to work stresses me out. yuck. this whole week i am going to toronto for training and then back on the ground for most of june. July is an insane travel month, too. will get through it all.

this week i made a hoodie for carol/ginjafightus for her bday. i wish i had taken a picture of it.. it reminded me how much i love crafting. well, i should run off and make some toast, put the laundry on the line... thesis thesis thesis. i feel all blabbbbbering.

i don't have a picture yet but this day this very day by some sort of happenstance my tattoo got finished! yippee!!

we're about to head out to spicy greens for birthday dinner with loki and then off to bowling and then to party like it's 1984. punk style. pictures tomorrow! xo

i know i know i know

i'm posting this everywhere, but i don't care. i love it so much. just one more session of colouring left (!!) and then it's finished (on the front). i LOVE how dark the shading is and am happy that the dark new school wave is a style my whole body will experience over time.

in other fantastic news i submitted my first chapter today and still have a lot of work ahead of me. we're laying low and i'm working on some gloves and we're watching gossip girl. soon some dinner (tortellini) and then we're going to our lovely friend's on quince to fulfill the girl band fantasy ;)
