A Love Letter of Sorts

Dear Melissa Marion,

In just under 2 weeks I will be in your city. I haven't seen you in person in just a month over THREE YEARS. This is a tragic failing on my part (stupid children). I anticipate that you will have created us an itinerary and picked out your best outfits and will even do a lemon cayenne water fast before I arrive because I am that important, but I am doing the same for you, and I know we will both benefit.

I've never been to the Eastern part of the united states of america and am excited to spend some time in a car on a real bonafied freeway, see a racial ghetto (which I seem to only see in the US or Toronto and some parts of Vancouver because I really never go anywhere and they continually fascinate me), and beat up anyone who says the words, "legitimate rape".

There's a few things I want to do in Baltimore and with you (on top of our visit to Classic Electric):
1. Ensure your BF doesn't feel TOO ALIENATED by my presence
2. Have a GIRLS marathon and eat ice cream
3. Ryan Gosling Movies and Wine Coolers
4. Go for a walk every day! EVERY DAY.
5. Buy books at Atomic Books (but not too many)
6. recreate this movie cover when we go to washington
7. eat out at least twice!

Even if we stay home and only eat grilled cheese sandwiches and read books about tropical birds we will have fun.

LOVE Diandra

in 3 minutes i have to get up and change my tights, flat iron my bangs, reapply my liquid liner, and throw on a new derby shirt and head out into the night to do lay-security at the local toy run dance (biker central... wait, drunk biker central). i'm looking forward to screechy women and sexual harassment. should be a good time.
the last few weeks have been interesting. i'm waiting to hear about an opportunity and am working on some list items and kind of want to pull my hair out. it's settled WE are going to be farmers, FOR SURE in 3-5 years from now. But WTF am I going to do between this minute and then? I'm pretty sure i don't want to be in the mainstream workforce just to have a "job". I want to work hard at work I LOVE. but i also want to make money. and be "in my skin" as it were. OH, and play some roller derby. HARDCORE roller derby.
OK time's up. Started watching Lena Dunham's GIRLS. It's the best.

30 by 31 (and a 29 before 30 recap!)

Well, today is my 30th birthday! Since I was a teenager I've admired people in their 30s and thought the true cool people were in their 30s. So, now I'm here! Looking forward to it. 29 was a big year for me, emotionally, and I think I've got it figured out! *YEEHAW!* To "get ready" for my thirties I did a list of my 29 before 30. The list as a process is changing and I'm realizing what I can do, reasonably, within a year (like paying all my debts off is NOT a reality if I'm also going to travel my face off), and hope my 30before31 list is a little more realistic ( more winning ). But, before I get to it, here's a recap of my 29before30:

I've been a wreck so long it's hard to pull it back.

The morning after the epic gringo dinner we had, I'm feeling more tired than hung over, and more done with the current state of my life, and ready for a number of things to change. Any day now things can start to be drastically different and it's exhausting trying to keep up. I know that's super ominous but work, self, relationship, community: all these things could look different in the days and weeks ahead. Hopefully all won't be drastically different, but different nonetheless. One I feel like sharing right now is that I've connected with a Derbalife coach. Derbalife is Herbalife optimized for derby. I get a derby coach (who is fucking awe inspiring!) who will help me reach my health/derby goal: play at an elite level by in three years. WFTDA travel team, regionals, RDAC Nationals, team canada. LOFTY GOAL? Doable. But a lot of work. And I need motivation. And coaching works for me. Psyched. And after being sick for a week, I'm ready to get down on the floor and work my abs for 12 minutes until I puke.

In other news, epic dinner last night was awesome. So awesome I wish I took more pictures. Me and my roommate made Seitan, bean, and daiya burritos with Mesa Sauce (and beef, bean, and cheese burritos), green aji (sauce) which i forgot to take out and we will pour all over the leftovers, vegan queso, vegan 7 layer dip, peruvian potato salad, cabbage salad, zucchini and avo salad, tofu corn casserole, cilantro lime rice.. and a three layer, tri-coloured cake to look like the mexico flag. We also had sangria, coronas, margaritas, pina coladas, mojitos, palomas, jello shots, and sangria. It was great.

And, with some bday $$ i broke down and bought new toms. i love them.
